- Dublin Castle
At Dame Street, Dublin 2, tourists and visitors can visit the historical Dublin Castle. It is considered as the heart of Dublin’s history. The name Dublin is taken from the Irish term “Dubh Linn” which means “black pool”. The black pool was on the area of the castle.
Visitors can visit the State Apartments, Undercroft and Chapel Royal of the Dublin Castle on regular days from 10 am to 4:45 pm and from 2 pm to 4:45 pm on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. There is also a restaurant and a craft shop on the castle.
- Malahide Castle
Malahide Castle has been a fortress and residential home of the Talbot family. The family has made the castle their sanctuary for nearly 800 years. The castle displays several Irish portrait paintings and furniture. The walls speak of the history of the Talbot family.
From Mondays thru Saturdays, the Malahide Castle is open from 10 am to 5 pm and 10 am to 6 pm on Sundays and holidays. There is a restaurant available at the castle. Private banquets are held at the medieval great hall. It can cater from 30 to 76 persons. Tourists can join the tour to explore more the Malahide Castle.
